Lake Bohinj Resort Guide
Lake Bohinj is located in a beautiful glacial valley under the mighty Mt.Triglav.
The Resort
Bohinj is the best known glacial valley of the Julian Alps, situated in the vast and beautiful Triglav National Park and dominated by magnificent Julian Alps range. There are little hamlets dotted around the densely wooded lake front and at its head, in an amphitheatre overshadowed by the sombre face of nearby mountains, lies the most famous Slovene waterfall Savica. Everything in this area is geared towards full enjoyment of an active holiday, yet with full respect for the nature - even the tour-boat that ferries guests from one lake's end to another, is powered by an electric engine!
Walking
The area around Bohinj has quite varied walking amidst some of the most spectacular mountain scenery in Europe. Start by completing an undemanding 3-hour clockwise stroll around the lake from Ribcev Laz, visiting local hamlets and churches. Take a 'must-do' hike through beech woods to the Savica waterfall, one of the most popular in Slovenia. Explore flower-filled meadows of Mt.Vogel plateau reached by a quick ascent on cable-car while enjoying breathtaking views of the lake and valley beneath.
