2017 Could Be Eastern Europe's Year
Respected travel website Travelzoo have predicted that 2017 will be the 'Year of Eastern Europe', increasing in popularity with many tourists shifting away from destinations affected by acts of terror in recent years. The region is also attracting British holidaymakers in particular due to the value of the British pound. Balkan Holidays Celebrates 50th Anniversary
World Famous Violinist Vasko Vassilev and musicians from the Spanish flamenco group Chambao were special guests at the 50th birthday of Balkan Holidays last week which celebrated the special occasion with a stylish party at the Old Metropolis "St. Sofia" in Nessebar. The venue was chosen specifically for its incredible acoustics, which impressed the musicians and guests alike. Balkan Holidays Air Named Official Air Carrier to Iraq
We are delighted to learn that our Charter Airline company Balkan Holidays Airlines (BH Air) has been chosen by the Bulgarian government as the official carrier between Bulgaria and Iraq. The cabinet has authorized the airline to fly routes as agreed in the Agreement on Air Transport between the Government of the Republic of Bulgaria and the Government of the Republic of Iraq, which was signed on the 15th November 1966 in Sofia. According to reports, the decision is expected to increase the number of passengers travelling between the two countries and boost the Bulgarian-Iraqi trade relations. Bulgaria 4th in European Winter Tourism Development
The Deputy Minister of Economy in charge of Tourism, Branimir Botev says Bulgaria ranks fourth in Europe by the rate of development of winter tourism. Speaking at a meeting with the international media present at the World Travel Market exhibition in London last week Botev said "During the past winter, the country has been visited by over 1 million tourists, which is an increase of 8.2%. Hopes are for this positive trend to continue during the 2013-2014 season". He also added that the 2013 summer season was also successful in Bulgaria with the country being visited by 3.5m tourists between June - August 2013, an increase of 5.4%
