Some great news arrived in the form of cranes and diggers this week in Pamporovo as construction began on a brand new lift facility due to be completed before the start of the upcoming winter season.
The new 4-seated lift was announced by the executive director of Pamporovo AD Mr. Marian Belyakov and the total cost of the project is expected to be around the 3.5m Euro mark (£3m). The resort of Pamporovo is hoping the new 1km lift will enhance the infrastructure within the resort along with the ski track measuring 1200 meters about to be prepared with an artificial snow inflow in the near future. This week in Sofia, Bulgaria over 1000 residents & visitors to Sofia took part in an attempt to break a Guinness World Record for the most people dyeing Easter eggs at one time. The egg dyeing started at 12pm and lasted for just three minutes, setting the new world record for the most people dying eggs, according to the World Record Academy.
The organizers of the event provided 2700 eggs, 200 litres of egg dye and 2200 T-shirts for the participants. The previous Guinness World Record for the most people dyeing eggs was 317 achieved at Carowinds in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA. The coloured eggs were subsequently inspected at three

On February 16th, the Bulgarian resort of Borovets hosted a unique snowboard race - The DC BIG SPIN. It took place in one of the resort's terrain parks - Borosport Snow Park and was the first of it's kind ever in Bulgaria. The race is a DC's "trade mark" whereby the participants are rated based on the variety and the performance quality of the spinning tricks each participant has performed which gives the race its name.

As we have already mentioned, Bulgaria’s veteran gymnast Yordan Yovchev was the national team’s torch bearer at the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games. At the age of 39, he is the first male gymnast ever to compete in six Games, starting in Barcelona in 1992.
