Look Beyond Dubrovnik urges ABTA
As delegates from around the UK prepare to attend this year's Travel Convention hosted by Dubrovnik, ABTA has teamed up with the Croatian National Tourist Office to encourage the 600 delegates attending to explore more of the beautiful country during their stay. The tourist office reported a 25% increase in visitors from January 2013 to July 2013, compared to the same period last year and Mark Tanzer, ABTA chief executive, said: "Croatia is a stunning country and after three days in Dubrovnik at the Travel Convention many delegates will want to see what else the country has to offer. New Terminal At Varna Airport Opens For Business
Yesterday was a landmark day for the city of Varna as the new passenger terminal at Varna Airport on Bulgaria’s Black Sea coast came in to full use, 12 days after its official opening. As of 3pm, all arrivals and departures began passing through the new terminal, announced by the airport on its website. The first serviced domestic flight was to Sofia with the national carrier "Bulgaria Air" while the first international passengers served in the new Varna Airport terminal came from Minsk with the aviation company “Belavia”. Free Wifi Signals A New Era For Sozopol
A new project introduced with funds by the Sozopol municipality was launched earlier this month which provides all guests to Sozopol with free internet access across the popular seaside resort. The company which maintains the service reported that after only a few hours after the service was introduced, 1150 people had already used it. The WiFi service starts from the old town in Sozopol through to the Budzhaka district and many tourists are already enjoying the opportunity to message, call and email friends and family whilst enjoying their summer holiday, free of charge. Construction Begins On New Pamporovo Ski Lift
Some great news arrived in the form of cranes and diggers this week in Pamporovo as construction began on a brand new lift facility due to be completed before the start of the upcoming winter season. The new 4-seated lift was announced by the executive director of Pamporovo AD Mr. Marian Belyakov and the total cost of the project is expected to be around the 3.5m Euro mark (£3m). The resort of Pamporovo is hoping the new 1km lift will enhance the infrastructure within the resort along with the ski track measuring 1200 meters about to be prepared with an artificial snow inflow in the near future. Bulgarian Charity Event A Huge Success
Last month a touring party of former Aston Villa football players and special guests headed over to the the Bulgarian capital, Sofia for a weekend of fundraising in aid of the "Children of Bulgaria" and support of Stylian Petrov the former Aston Villa captain. In March 2012, Petrov was diagnosed with acute leukaemia, putting his football career on hold to have treatment. In May 2013 he announced his retirement from the game and in August 2012, it was announced that Petrov's leukaemia was in remission. Sports Aid for Children of Bulgaria
This weekend an Aston Villa Old Stars Xl will be taking on a Bulgarian Legends Xl in Sofia to recognise the contribution of Aston Villa club captain and former Bulgarian captain and international Stiliyan Petrov, who was diagnosed with acute leukaemia last year.
