Keeping the Kids Happy on a Budget

Keeping the Kids Happy on a Budget
11 Jul 2024

When you’re on holiday with children keeping them entertained is vital, especially as you don’t have access to things like games consoles. So, it’s time to go old school!

If you grew up pre 2000 and something then you spent a fair chunk of your childhood bored! You know what we are talking about here, you were dragged to your parents friends who didn’t have any children themselves, or pets, or even an outside space so you were faced with hours of sitting in their house listening to adults talking about 70s, 80s or 90s things. Kids these days don’t know they’re born do they?!

So you’ve got to keep you’re children happy…on a budget! Luckily this is a bit easier when you’re on holiday because they can spend hours in and around the hotel swimming pool. This is great fun and of course…free! You can also spend time on the beach, you can keep the cost down here by just taking some towels and sitting on those rather than hiring a parasol or sunbed. The children can build sand castles and play in the sand while dipping in the sea. Again, this is great fun and again, free! Although it’s always nice to get some of those lovely Bulgarian ice creams!

So what else is there to do that’s free or at least cheap? Some hotels have their own kids clubs, these are good especially if there are plenty of other children your children can meet and hopefully make friends with.

How about a Camel Park? Yes, there is a camel park just outside Sunny Beach. It’s a wonderful attraction and well worth a visit. There are 17 camels offering rides plus there’s alpacas, ponies, donkeys, rabbits and exotic birds. There’s a children’s playground and if anyone has a birthday while you’re on holiday they even organise birthday parties. It’s good value too, admission prices are 20 lev for an adult (£8.60) 12 lev for children (£5), great value for a day out.

There’s also a fun fair in Sunny Beach. It’s called the Luna Park and it’s a proper old school fun fair with a number of classic fairground rides, games and rides and that includes a rollercoaster. This is located near the beach, walk down Flower Street, turn right and it’s a bit further down on the right hand side of the promenade.

Lastly, a nice walk along the promenade will keep children entertained as there’s  lots to see and do. There are some nice restaurants with beach and sea views, lots of stalls selling all sorts of things or we always like to walk along the water’s edge in the cool of the evening, beautiful.

So there you have it, some ideas for keeping your children happy, on a budget, good luck!
