Bulgarian Charity Event A Huge Success
Last month a touring party of former Aston Villa football players and special guests headed over to the the Bulgarian capital, Sofia for a weekend of fundraising in aid of the "Children of Bulgaria" and support of Stylian Petrov the former Aston Villa captain.
In March 2012, Petrov was diagnosed with acute leukaemia, putting his football career on hold to have treatment. In May 2013 he announced his retirement from the game and in August 2012, it was announced that Petrov's leukaemia was in remission.
The weekend consisted of a football match between the Aston Villa former players and a Bulgaria all stars team made up of legends and current players including Dimitar Berbatov and Hristo Stoichkov. The group then took to the fabulous Rui Pravets resort for a day of Golf in the spectacular Bulgarian sunshine. The weekend was a brilliant success with over £60,000 raised for this worthy cause. The football match attracted over 10,000 supporters and Balkan Holidays were delighted to be a part of this special occasion and proud sponsor of the Golf tournament.
Below are some images of the weekend:
