Bansko's Yanko Popov at the Telegraph Ski & Snowboard Festival

Balkan Holidays are delighted to announce the confirmation of Yanko Popov at our Telegraph Ski Festival stand this year.

Yanko Popov is the manager of the Ski and Snowboard School, Ulen in Bansko, Bulgaria. He will be on the Balkan Holidays stand for duration of the festival to answer any questions regarding skiing in Bansko, whether about the resort, the pistes or the tuition available through Ulen. Or indeed more general questions about your skiing or boarding technique.

Yanko was born in 1962. He graduated with a Master of Science in Sport Management. As a student, he fell in love with winter sports and in 1985 completed his ski instructor qualification. He started instructing at Vitosha, on the outskirts of Sofia.

In 1988 he upgraded his qualifications and from the winter of 1989/90 moved to the Bulgarian winter resort of Borovets, where he perfected snowboarding. During 1999/2000 he also worked at Pamporovo. From 2002, he has been working at Ulen Ski and Snowboard School in Bansko, becoming the manager from 2004 until now.
