Balchik, Bulgaria
Balchik, on the northern part of the Bulgarian Black Sea Coast, is one of the northernmost summer resort of the Bulgarian seaside, and is less than 35 miles away from Golden Sands and very close to Cape Kaliakra, where the golf courses of our Golf Holiday Programme are located.
Balchik was founded as a Thracian settlement, its name means small town in Gagauz language, spoken in Moldova. The most famous attraction of Balchik is the former Romanian royal holiday home, as the town was part of Romania twice in the first part of the 20th century.
Balchik is often referred to as the “White City” because of its houses built of white stone, and also because of the white cliffs surrounding it.
Another famous landmark is the botanic garden founded in 1955, housing more than 2000 species on an area of 65,000 square metres.
When you book a holiday to Golden Sands or to one of our golf and beach resorts in the area, such as the Thracian Cliffs, it is worth to pay a visit to this small but ancient town of ancient Thracia.
